January 28, 2008 -- SURREY, BC -- BASF is pleased to announce that Able Auto Body, a member of the Collision Plus network, is the first Collision Repair Centre in Canada to convert to BASF's R-M Onyx HD waterborne system. In fact, both of Able Auto Body's facilities have made the transition to R-M Onyx HD this past January. The facilities are owned by Roger Roy, and located in Surrey, BC.

"We are very excited to be the first in Canada to use BASF's R-M Onyx HD system; we converted to Onyx HD with little to no problems at all and staff at BASF and White & Peters made sure we didn't lose any production time," says Roger Roy.

"As a network, we believe very strongly in staying ahead of the game when it comes to environmental protection and employee health and safety" says Shawn Nelson, Managing Partner for Collision Plus. "All of our members have either converted already to BASF waterborne products or are in the process of converting."

Collision Plus has 13 locations across British Columbia and was the first in Western Canada to use BASF's Glasurit 90-Line at False Creek Collision Plus. Jack Schultz Auto Body in Prince George converted to 90-Line last year along with Fender's Autobody & Paint in Kelowna. Next on the list is Able Auto Body (Walnut Grove) in Langley, both Richmond Auto Body locations (Richmond and North Vancouver), White Stag Auto Body in Kelowna, Buzz's Autobody in Kamloops, Trojan Collision Centre in Nanaimo and both
Gord-Ron’s Auto Metal locations in Burnaby.

"Our technicians are telling us that the change was an easy one and that they don't miss the smell. They appreciate the fact that Onyx HD or 90-Line is much healthier for them and the environment than the old products," says Shawn Nelson. "The Collision Plus mandate is to be the leader in the industry by using the latest technology that has positive impact to the health and safety of their employees and the environment we live in."

Collision Plus is the first collision repair organization to have a booth at the EPIC environmental tradeshow in Vancouver. The show is expecting over 20,000 people all very interested in seeing which companies are showing leadership when it comes to the environment. It takes place April 18th to the 20th.

According to BASF, R-M Onyx HD has a number of features that shops will find useful, including 56 toners, all of which are non-freezable and have an indefinite shelf-life. Launched in Canada on January 1st 2008, Onyx HD is also aligned with the BASF COLOR-MAX2 system assuring an ideal color match to both solventborne and waterborne OEM coatings. It can also be used with existing mixing equipment. To learn more on R-M Onyx HD or Glasurit 90-Line, visit basfrefinish.com.
