January 15 - Vancouver, BC - BASF Canada has recently launched a new waterborne product system that has been approved for Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) training. “Every year any new products that are introduced have to go through an approval process,” according to Doug Hoyme, BASF’s Western Trainer. This involves making sure that the product is VOC compliant and that the proper testing has been done at the manufacturing level.
The VOC compliance includes DC 5800, which was approved with the Onyx HD line and DC 98, which was approved with a 2.0 VOC clearance. General Motors has approved the new product. Onyx HD has a number of beneficial features, including 56 toners, all of which are non-freezable and have an indefinite shelf-life. Aligned with the BASF COLOR-MAX 2 system, Onyx HD can be matched to both solventborne and waterborne OEM coatings. It can also be used with existing paint equipment.
